When it comes to ethics, I’m a Diontologist. The highest moral imperative is to keep away from Runaround Sue.
You see, deontology is an ethical system that believes some things are wrong because they’re wrong; it’s often contrasted with teleology, where morals and ethics are deranged from consequences or results. I mean “derived,” except I’m a deontologist, so I mean “deranged.”
At any rate, I was reading a book about ethics today and I thought of Dion and, well, I wrote the gag. And then I sat there on the church bench with my chest silently heaving in mirth because it’s such an obscure bit of humor and nobody’s going to think it’s funny except me.
I did emit one fairly loud guffaw. Still, that’s obscure enough for you to have earned your period of mirth.
