Lessons from Katrina

Friends and family plan on the cellular phone? Hell, no.

If you and your spouse or you and your friends have contracts with different companies, you’ll also be on different networks. Ergo, you’ll have redundancy so that if one cellular network goes down, you’re not dependent upon it and can call for help if the second cellular network remains operational.

  1. Then there’s the satellite phone and the availability of the means of charging batteries if you want a better shot of communicating.

Of course, I say this without knowing what a sat phone costs or what other expenses might be entailed in activating one.

  2. Really Brian, I would think only Sat phones and crank radios would satisfy a Noogle level of paranoia.
