Maybe I’ve just read too many thrillers, but I always evaluate what to do if someone comes in the door with a gun or with a knife and what I have at hand, hopefully longer than a knife or machete, to defend myself with if needed.
But grapple a person with a knife? Not if there’s another option, up to and including hitting them with a car.
