{"id":9631,"date":"2011-07-12T09:02:40","date_gmt":"2011-07-12T14:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=9631"},"modified":"2011-07-12T09:02:40","modified_gmt":"2011-07-12T14:02:40","slug":"style-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/12\/style-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Style Note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Henceforth, we at MfBJN will refrain from using the overwrought term &#8220;nanny state&#8221; regarding the government that tells its &#8220;citizens&#8221; that they need to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/the-press-office\/2011\/07\/11\/press-conference-president\" target=\"_blank\">eat their peas<\/a> and &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/271470\/light-motif-mark-steyn\" target=\"_blank\">We are taking away a choice that continues to let people waste their own money.<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Many nannies provide excellent childcare for their charges and enjoy working with children.  I do not think the current administration is very good at taking care of what it thinks are its children, and I don&#8217;t think they like citizens very much.<\/p>\n<p>Henceforth, or at least until I forget this vow sometime tomorrow, MfBJN will use more appropriate epithets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Resentful stepmother government<\/strong> who wanted power, but not the responsibility, and who dictates rules and regulations for her convenience, not to protect and educate those whom she must serve, or<\/li>\n<li><strong>Surly foreign au pair state<\/strong>, who wanted the benefits afforded her position but not the responsibility.
