{"id":80,"date":"2003-07-07T20:45:00","date_gmt":"2003-07-07T20:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=80"},"modified":"2018-08-02T16:11:35","modified_gmt":"2018-08-02T21:11:35","slug":"80","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2003\/07\/07\/80\/","title":{"rendered":"Coastal Marketing Types Can&#8217;t Be Wrong!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looky here, according to iWon, network executives have realized that current television speaks mostly to the cosmopolitanly-inbred coastal types, that there are people with televisions in the hinterlands of America, and that <a href=\"http:\/\/apnews1.iwon.com\/article\/20030707\/D7S4HNF00.html\" target=\"new\"><b>The America Channel<\/b><\/a> will attract Joe Working Man.<\/p>\n<p>They say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A new cable channel aimed at showing real American life between the East and West coasts is planned for launch next year, its top executive said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We think that Middle America has fantastic stories to tell, and we&#8217;re going to go out there and get them,&#8221; said Doron Gorshein, chairman and chief executive officer of The America Channel.<\/p>\n<p>The channel, to be formally announced Monday, is aimed at filling a void created by television&#8217;s tendency to focus on life in New York and Los Angeles, Gorshein said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I wouldn&#8217;t be so cynical if the channel were based in Chicago, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Des Moines, Lincoln, Wichita, or any of the other cities, yes, <i>cities<\/i> in the middle of America.
