Of course, she&#8217;s referring to my NOE (near obsession experience) with the newly techno-confected songstress <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jeweljk.com\" target=\"new\">Jewel Kilcher<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, I must point out (in a &#8220;I am superior, but I am not acting superior&#8221; tone of writing) that <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=jewel\" target=\"new\">jewel<\/a> has two syllables.  It rhymes with <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=crewel\" target=\"new\">crewel<\/a> and, well, <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=cruel\" target=\"new\">cruel<\/a>, but not <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=fool\" target=\"new\">fool<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=drool\" target=\"new\">drool<\/a>, or for that matter, <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/search?q=joule\" target=\"new\">joule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course (:: sniff!::), as a former practitioner of &#8220;free verse&#8221; poetry, you&#8217;re not as aware of these subtle distinctions as a writer of <i>real<\/i> poetry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My dear esteemed spouse asserts that Jewel rhymes with fool and drool.
