{"id":3335,"date":"2006-09-20T02:14:00","date_gmt":"2006-09-20T02:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=3335"},"modified":"2017-12-14T11:27:54","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T17:27:54","slug":"marketer-to-english-translation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2006\/09\/20\/marketer-to-english-translation\/","title":{"rendered":"Marketer-to-English Translation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hasbro is using brand name products for token in its <a href=\"http:\/\/sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2006\/09\/14\/BUG5BL570T1.DTL\" target=\"_new\">new Monopoly Here and Now game<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p> Five of the eight tokens in the new Monopoly Here and Now edition will be branded, offering players the chance to be represented by miniature versions of a Toyota Prius hybrid car, an order of McDonald&#8217;s french fries, a New Balance running shoe, a cup of Starbucks coffee or a Motorola Razr cell phone.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hasbro Games senior vice president for marketing Mark Blecher assures us:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hasbro chose not to brand all the new tokens, Blecher said, to minimize concerns that the new edition would be too commercialized. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently, in Blecher&#8217;s world, 62.5% commercialized is acceptable, whereas 62.6% is not.
