It&#8217;s far closer to Rolla.  But the story is from a British tabloid, and we can&#8217;t expect them to know where those smaller cities are.  Heck, I&#8217;m surprised they thought to include &#8220;near St. Louis&#8221; as a reference point.  I would presume that the British and their new guests are not familiar enough with U.S. geography to know where St. Louis is.
