{"id":31186,"date":"2023-07-02T08:35:03","date_gmt":"2023-07-02T13:35:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=31186"},"modified":"2023-07-01T07:49:44","modified_gmt":"2023-07-01T12:49:44","slug":"not-what-i-think-of-when-i-think-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2023\/07\/02\/not-what-i-think-of-when-i-think-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"Not What I Think Of When I Think Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got a postcard from some new retirement company who for some reason thinks I&#8217;m thinking of retirement (which I have been, sort of, along the lines of <em>I can never retire<\/em> as I reach the age where peers who went into government service are retiring with full pension and benefits and are picking up second full-time careers, but I look at the retirement accounts I have gathered from various spots of full-time employment in my career and think, &#8220;Man, weren&#8217;t these at the same market value fifteen years ago?&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>The slug is &#8220;Here&#8217;s what financial freedom looks like&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/empowerwhatsnext.jpg\" target=\"_new\"><\/p>\n<p>At a quick glance and given the kind of postcards I tend to get in the mail, I thought it was a picture of AOC pitching financial freedom and retirement products of some sort.  And I cannot imagine any sort of freedom in retirement plans the congressional representative from New York would push.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, if you look longer, it is not AOC.  But at a glance&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the sort of thing I would have raised an issue of were I working on the marketing team.
