{"id":29786,"date":"2022-04-27T11:34:22","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T16:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=29786"},"modified":"2022-04-27T11:34:22","modified_gmt":"2022-04-27T16:34:22","slug":"something-i-noticed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2022\/04\/27\/something-i-noticed\/","title":{"rendered":"Something I Noticed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>C&#8217;mon, man, I can&#8217;t be the only one who noticed this, but Google Meet displays you a mirror image of yourself, as though you were looking in the mirror:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/googlemeetsmirror.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>While Zoom and most other video call\/recording systems show you a true image, which is what you look like to someone else:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/zoomistrue.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>I imagine that Google does that because one tends to think one looks weird or off when viewing one&#8217;s self true instead of what one sees in the mirror all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I&#8217;m the only one to notice, since I have had to use so many of the meeting technologies in short order&#8211;sometimes two or more per contact (I had a Zoom meeting cut off at the free limit, so we had to switch to Google Meets to finish up recently).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also why you tend to think you look different in photographs.
