{"id":29418,"date":"2022-01-05T06:05:14","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T12:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=29418"},"modified":"2022-01-05T06:05:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T12:05:14","slug":"no-hobgoblins-in-this-small-mind","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2022\/01\/05\/no-hobgoblins-in-this-small-mind\/","title":{"rendered":"No Hobgoblins In This Small Mind"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I have mentioned, gentle reader, the one genre of music I do not like much at all is not rap or hip hop (although I don&#8217;t like much from that genre either) is the seventies folk, especially male folk singers like Dan Fogelberg and John Denver (women like Linda Ronstadt, Lynda Carter, Olivia Newton-John get a pass because, well, PWOC).<\/p>\n<p>Explain to me, then, how I have come to enjoy the vocal stylings of Michael Franks?<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ilj-3T7O7f8\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I could probably go into a paragraph talking about his distinct vocal stylings, but I&#8217;m not that smart, or I could point out that he is more <em>smooth jazz<\/em> than folk, but&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Really, it&#8217;s because WSIE provides a steady diet of a couple of his works, and I tend to pick up my jazz recordings based on what WSIE plays.
