{"id":26958,"date":"2020-10-17T11:06:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-17T16:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=26958"},"modified":"2020-10-17T11:06:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-17T16:06:49","slug":"where-exactly-does-she-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2020\/10\/17\/where-exactly-does-she-live\/","title":{"rendered":"Where, Exactly, Does She Live?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s supposed to be a heartwarming story of people getting out there and voting [the right way], I guess: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ky3.com\/2020\/10\/17\/michigan-woman-travels-300-miles-to-vote\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michigan woman travels 300 miles to vote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A 94-year-old Michigan woman went more than the extra mile to vote in this year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, [redacted] traveled over 300 miles to make sure her vote was counted.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She&#8217;s apparently been an activist in Detroit for most of her life, but:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[Redacted] is staying with family in a suburb of Chicago and when she did not receive her absentee ballot, she asked her son to drive her to Detroit so that she could vote.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Questions abound outside the text of the &#8220;news&#8221; story, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Does she <em>live<\/em> with relatives in Chicago?<\/li>\n<li>Did she not get issued an absentee ballot because she had no residence address in Detroit, and Michigan would not mail it to Chicago?<\/li>\n<li>If so, why was it so important to vote in what might be a swing state this year and not in Chicago, which is in a pretty solid Democrat state?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Those questions come to my mind, but cynicism is my life, not just my vocation.
