When last we spoke, I&#8217;d boughten slightly more metal than jazz songbirds (eight to seven, I think, over four months) which sort of balanced a preceding year that was a little heavy on jazz songbirds.<\/p>\n<p>But in the last, my goodness, <em>ten months<\/em> I&#8217;ve bought a lot more metal than jazz.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also boughten a couple of singles (and even an album or two) on MP3 because during the recent unpleasantness Amazon gave you big credits to the digital store for delaying your order.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;ve gotten:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Birth of the Cool<\/em> Miles Davis<\/li>\n<li><em>Generation Flee<\/em> Connor Fiehler<\/li>\n<li><em>Rival Seasons<\/em> (EP) Hard Loss<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Wish You Were Here&#8221; (Single) Janet Evra<\/li>\n<li><em>It Just Happens That Way<\/em> Mindi Abair<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;82nd All The Way&#8221; Amaranthe<\/li>\n<li><em>Massive Addictive<\/em> Amaranthe<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;What Lies Ahead&#8221; Semblant<\/li>\n<li><em>Weather<\/em> Huey Lewis and the News<\/li>\n<li><em>Lux<\/em> Gemini Syndrome<\/li>\n<li><em>Helix<\/em> Amaranthe<\/li>\n<li><em>Silent Machine<\/em> Twelve Foot Ninja<\/li>\n<li><em>Something Supernatural<\/em> Crobot<\/li>\n<li><em>Motherbrain<\/em> Crobot<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Mere Shadow&#8221; Semblant<\/li>\n<li><em>Battles<\/em> In Flames<\/li>\n<li><em>I, The Mask<\/em> In Flames<\/li>\n<li><em>Legends From Beyond The Galactic Terror Vortex<\/em> Gloryhammer<\/li>\n<li><em>Follow the Cipher<\/em> Follow the Cipher<\/li>\n<li><em>Fifth of Beethoven<\/em> Walter Murphy Band<\/li>\n<li><em>Welcome Home<\/em> Hellyeah<\/li>\n<li><em>Atonement<\/em> Killswitch Engage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know why I have been hitting the metal so hard.  I think it&#8217;s because I really get into an artist like Amaranthe, Crobot, or In Flames, and I buy a couple CDs from them.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s 12 metal albums and three singles compared to one album and one singles for jazz songbirds.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rival Seasons<\/em> and <em>Generation Flee<\/em> are bands\/artists whose parents I know.  I got <em>Fifth of Beethoven<\/em> on the off chance that we would have to use a CD player for our disco-themed Trunk or Treat trunk instead of a mobile device.  And I got the <strike>last<\/strike> latest Huey Lewis and the News album after reading another profile on him (strangely enough, a different profile than <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2020\/02\/05\/a-concert-i-will-forever-miss-maybe\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">I linked in February<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>And, cmon, man, I got <em>The Birth of the Cool<\/em> because Miles Davis (and hence doubling my score on <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2019\/08\/26\/brian-j-jazz-poseur\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this quiz<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>But the lack of balance ultimately gives me permission to buy one or more Lindsay Webster albums.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kRsi1be74DA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As if I need permission to be profligate.
