{"id":25704,"date":"2020-02-19T10:01:47","date_gmt":"2020-02-19T16:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=25704"},"modified":"2020-02-19T08:21:34","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T14:21:34","slug":"wherein-the-internet-educates-brian-j-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2020\/02\/19\/wherein-the-internet-educates-brian-j-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Wherein The Internet Educates Brian J., Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The night before last, my wife read something to me that had the word &#8220;bungalow&#8221; in it, and I said that you really don&#8217;t hear about bungalows except in California.<\/p>\n<p>Then, yesterday, someone linked to and quoted an article about <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/black-families-came-chicago-thousands-131418694.html\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">black families leaving Chicago<\/a>, and the first paragraph is all like:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hardis White, 78, could hardly wait to break out of suburbia.<\/p>\n<p>He dressed in a flannel shirt, jeans and a Bears cap, strode out of the rectangular bungalow he shares with his wife and daughter and folded his tall frame behind the wheel of his silver Nissan sedan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So I was all like, wut?<\/p>\n<p>So I read up on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bungalow\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bungalows<\/a> and learned more about the architectural style.  There&#8217;s even a Milwaukee bungalow style, which I&#8217;ve undoubtedly seen a bunch of.<\/p>\n<p>But I guess I read a lot of detective fiction set in California where vics, perps, and sometimes detectives live in bungalows.
