And don&#8217;t worry, the Census Bureau assures you that it won&#8217;t use your information for anything other than the aggregation of population trends.  Until such time as it changes its rules, of course.<\/p>\n<p>One cannot find irony in a wasteful, intrusive federal program designed to provide statistics to support and encourage further wasteful, intrusive federal programs; it&#8217;s the profligate consistency that is the hobgoblin of bureacratic minds.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re concerned about your privacy, don&#8217;t worry.  You don&#8217;t <i>have<\/i> to fill it out if you get one.  <a href=\"http:\/\/caselaw.lp.findlaw.com\/casecode\/uscodes\/13\/chapters\/7\/subchapters\/ii\/sections\/section_221.html\" target=\"_new\">Title 13 Section 221<\/a> explains the opt-out procedure:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n      (a) Whoever, being over eighteen years of age, refuses or<br \/>\n    willfully neglects, when requested by the Secretary, or by any<br \/>\n    other authorized officer or employee of the Department of Commerce<br \/>\n    or bureau or agency thereof acting under the instructions of the<br \/>\n    Secretary or authorized officer, to answer, to the best of his<br \/>\n    knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in<br \/>\n    connection with any census or survey provided for by subchapters I,<br \/>\n    II, IV, and V of chapter 5 of this title, applying to himself or to<br \/>\n    the family to which he belongs or is related, or to the farm or<br \/>\n    farms of which he or his family is the occupant, shall be fined not<br \/>\n    more than $100.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There you have it.
