{"id":25201,"date":"2019-10-22T08:00:29","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T13:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=25201"},"modified":"2019-10-21T08:50:16","modified_gmt":"2019-10-21T13:50:16","slug":"other-sticky-commercial-characters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2019\/10\/22\/other-sticky-commercial-characters\/","title":{"rendered":"Other Sticky Commercial Characters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ms. K. has a blog post about <a href=\"https:\/\/booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com\/2019\/10\/durable-characters.html\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Durable Characters<\/a> in commercials, and she cites Flo from Progressive Insurance and Mayhem from State Farm who have been in ads for a decade (although Mayhem had a hiatus if I recall, and I should, as I consider Mayhem to be one of my professional heroes).<\/p>\n<p>I see her Flo and raise her the Sonic Guys who have been doing commercials for Sonic <a href=\"https:\/\/americanprofile.com\/articles\/who-are-two-guys-in-the-car-in-the-sonic-commercials\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">since 2002<\/a> almost continuously and Jack in the Box, who has been in Jack in the Box commercials since the middle 1990s through, what, 2017 (according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jackinthebox.fandom.com\/wiki\/Jack_Box\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack in the Box Fandom wiki<\/a>)?<\/p>\n<p>1994:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N-rgqDhnLoU\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I have to wonder how those actors and comedians feel to know that their most famous work comes from thirty second spots over the course of decades.
