{"id":24531,"date":"2019-05-12T16:45:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-12T21:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=24531"},"modified":"2019-05-12T16:45:33","modified_gmt":"2019-05-12T21:45:33","slug":"i-know-where-that-background-vocal-line-comes-from","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2019\/05\/12\/i-know-where-that-background-vocal-line-comes-from\/","title":{"rendered":"I Know Where That Background Vocal Line Comes From"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I was doing the evening chores, and I found myself singing a bit of &#8220;Ew wah ew wah ew wah ew wah.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unlike when I found myself ruminating on the melody of <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2019\/02\/22\/haunted-by-a-melody-briefly\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marty Balin&#8217;s &#8220;Hearts&#8221;<\/a> in February, I knew where this came from.<\/p>\n<p>Dwight Yoakum&#8217;s &#8220;Pocket of a Clown&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eQcGkzXmPjY\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Although I did have to search for it to make sure I wasn&#8217;t crazy (&#8220;Pocket of a Clown&#8221;?  No way that&#8217;s a real song.).<\/p>\n<p>I had Dwight Yoakum&#8217;s <em>This Time<\/em> album when it was fresh.  It&#8217;s weird; I think of my college years as mostly steeped in pop music, but I listened to my share of country at the beginning of the 1990s as well.<\/p>\n<p>Why it came up in my mind&#8217;s rotation, I have no idea.  I am pleased, though, that the radio station that I can listen to while mowing the lawn has, after a couple of years, backed off of the all-bro-country format and returned to a mix of today and oldies.
