{"id":2194,"date":"2005-04-28T13:21:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-28T13:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=2194"},"modified":"2018-06-29T09:59:30","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T14:59:30","slug":"2194","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2005\/04\/28\/2194\/","title":{"rendered":"Senator Bond-and-Spend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looks like &#8220;Republican&#8221; Senator Bond wants to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/stltoday\/news\/stories.nsf\/nation\/story\/32374A911D59C03C86256FF1001C5E26?OpenDocument\" target=\"_new\">spend lots of money<\/a>, and those lots aren&#8217;t enough:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Senate has opened debate on a highway bill that would send billions of dollars to Missouri and Illinois for key road and bridge projects over the next six years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This bill is long overdue,&#8221; Sen. Christopher &#8220;Kit&#8221; Bond, R-Mo., a lead sponsor the legislation, said as lawmakers began debate on Tuesday. &#8220;Our roads are deteriorating, (highway) safety is deteriorating.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But even as he championed the legislation, Bond and other lawmakers said the $284 billion price tag was not enough to meet the nation&#8217;s needs.
