{"id":2051,"date":"2005-03-15T12:40:00","date_gmt":"2005-03-15T12:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2018-07-06T11:17:51","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T16:17:51","slug":"2051","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2005\/03\/15\/2051\/","title":{"rendered":"More Separate But Equal To"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that a judge in San Francisco has ruled that banning gay marriage invokes the magickal <a href=\"http:\/\/apnews.myway.com\/article\/20050315\/D88R647O0.html\" target=\"_new\">separate but unequal<\/a> curse, I humbly suggest some other institutions which could use a judicial takedown for promoting separateness but equalness:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Juvenile courts<\/b>, which provide separate justice for youths which should have equal weight to adult punishment somehow.\n<li><b>The Chinese New Year<\/b>, which presents a separate numbering system and celebration that&#8217;s almost like the Gregorian celebration.\n<li><b>State governments<\/b>, which present different laws based on geographic location.  All laws should be standard across the Fatherland.\n<li><b>Gender-restricted bathrooms<\/b>, which although numerous laws have mandated that facilities offer equal numbers of pots to piss in for men and women, women&#8217;s bathrooms often have lines out the door.  Certainly, separate but unequal; oyez, oyez, all bathrooms shalt be unisex or boththesexes from this day forward throughout the land!\n<li><b>Salary caps in professional sports<\/b>, which enforce parity on sports teams, but a parity of pay, not of skill or performance.\n<li><b>Political news coverage<\/b>, which has proven to be three times friendlier to Kerry than George W. Bush.  So it must be eliminated as it&#8217;s separate and unequal.
