{"id":19681,"date":"2018-03-25T13:29:41","date_gmt":"2018-03-25T18:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=19681"},"modified":"2018-03-24T17:41:51","modified_gmt":"2018-03-24T22:41:51","slug":"good-book-hunting-saturday-march-24-2018-hooked-on-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/25\/good-book-hunting-saturday-march-24-2018-hooked-on-books\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Book Hunting, Saturday, March 24, 2018: Hooked on Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a little time to kill in southwest Springfield yesterday afternoon, so I stopped by Hooked on Books to see what they had on their dollar book carts.<\/p>\n<p>A couple things that looked interesting, anyway.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/gbh131.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>It includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A self help book called <em>Busting Your Rut<\/em> which is a pun on a slang phrase for achieving male orgasm, so it&#8217;s got that going for it.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Long Good Boy<\/em>, a Carol Lea Benjamin (the author) Rachel Alexander and Dash (the dog trainer detective and dog characters) mystery.  I read an omnibus edition of the first two in the series, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/15\/book-report-dash-p-i-by-carol-lea-benjamin-1997\/\" target=\"_new\">Dash, P.I.<\/em><\/a> in 2009 and was not sure until I researched for this post whether the book I bought today was included in it (and even if I checked the book report first, it is not especially enlightening).  This book was not in the earlier collection.<\/li>\n<li>A Frederik Pohl novel called <em>Narabedla Ltd.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three books for three bucks.  Not bad.<\/p>\n<p>But when the bookseller tried to put the receipt in the cover of one of the books along with a bookmark, I asked for it so I could put it in my wallet.  &#8220;Put it in there, and I might not see it for ten years,&#8221; I said.
