{"id":19552,"date":"2018-02-17T15:54:05","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T21:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=19552"},"modified":"2018-02-17T15:54:05","modified_gmt":"2018-02-17T21:54:05","slug":"good-book-hunting-february-16-2018-abc-books","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2018\/02\/17\/good-book-hunting-february-16-2018-abc-books\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Book Hunting, February 16, 2018: ABC Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of course, <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2018\/02\/16\/amateur-hour\/\" target=\"_new\">yesterday&#8217;s post<\/a> needs to be followed up by a <em>But I Really, Really Need To Buy This One<\/em> post.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, we headed up to ABC Books to get some gift cards for the coaches of my oldest son&#8217;s basketball team for the thank you cards he&#8217;ll give them at the end of the season (or sometime&#8211;he&#8217;s been known to forget such cards for up to six months when they&#8217;re exhumed from his desk or backpack and given to the recipient).  And we couldn&#8217;t just get gift cards (although I must have done that on one or two occasions last year).  So I brought home a couple things to read someday.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/gbh129.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>I got:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The Celts<\/em>, a history of the Celts which was in the World Religions section for some reason.  Strangely, I might already have a copy of this floating around somewhere.<\/li>\n<li><em>Virtue and Happiness<\/em> by Epictetus.  Wait a minute, I thought this was Epicurus.  Since it&#8217;s Epictetus, I might have <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/03\/book-report-discourses-by-epictetus-1944\/\" target=\"_new\">already read it<\/a>.  Ah, well, I&#8217;ll read it again, expecting Stoicism now that I look at it more closely.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Beauty of Gesture<\/em>, a book that equates Tai Chi with playing the piano or something.  It looks interesting.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Tao of Christ<\/em>.  In my reading of the Tao, I&#8217;ve noticed some similarities to the parables of Christ.  This looks at it in depth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prediction: I&#8217;ll read <em>The Tao of Christ<\/em> first.
