{"id":194,"date":"2003-08-11T15:25:00","date_gmt":"2003-08-11T15:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=194"},"modified":"2018-08-03T09:13:43","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T14:13:43","slug":"194","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2003\/08\/11\/194\/","title":{"rendered":"Memo to Chicago Tribune: Snopes.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The venerable <i>Chicago Tribune<\/i> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/business\/chi-030811sweet,1,4759785.story?coll=chi-homepagepromo451-fea\" target=\"new\">story<\/a> about the dangers of Aspartme.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, aside from the headlines and assertions, the story does indicate:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nBut does it really cause headaches or, worse, seizures, lupus and multiple sclerosis?<\/p>\n<p>Most experts and studies say no.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyone who&#8217;s been to Snopes knows that &#8220;Warnings about drinking too much diet soda have circulated on the Internet for years&#8221; but that the warnings are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.snopes.com\/toxins\/aspartam.htm\" target=\"new\">bogus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s good to see the <i>Chicago Tribune<\/i> wasting column inches dignifying these assertions by exploring them (next week&#8217;s e-mail undoubtedly will say <i>As scene in the Chcago Tribune!!!<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>I am looking forward to upcoming hard-hitting Tribune investigative expos&#233;s (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lyricsdepot.com\/expose\/what-you-dont-know.html\" target=\"new\">what you don&#8217;t know might hurt you<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The health benefits of blooding.\n<li>World is round, Earth not center of universe.\n<li>Disco rocks the house.\n<li>No aether in space.\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/Title?0096256\" target=\"new\">They don&#8217;t actually live<\/a>, it was just a movie, learn and obey, citizen.\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The venerable Chicago Tribune has a story about the dangers of Aspartme.
