{"id":1773,"date":"2004-12-14T15:17:00","date_gmt":"2004-12-14T15:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=1773"},"modified":"2018-07-30T10:09:35","modified_gmt":"2018-07-30T15:09:35","slug":"1773","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2004\/12\/14\/1773\/","title":{"rendered":"Government and Technology, Part Infinitum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Story in the <i>Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/state\/dec04\/283901.asp\" target=\"_new\">Freeway Web site could have cost less: Rivals say they would cut price in half on $685,000 no-bid job<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the Wisconsin Department of Transportation spending the better part of a million dollars for a Web site explaining how they&#8217;re going to rebuild a major interchange in downtown Milwaukee.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The contract, released last week to the Journal Sentinel, also includes $15,600 for 25 flights.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Where in Wisconsin do you need to fly at $624 a pop?<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the people sucking the government teat are pleased:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re damn proud of this Web site,&#8221; said Brian Swenson, vice president of HNTB&#8217;s Wisconsin operations. &#8220;I know we&#8217;re taking a lot of heat and a lot of hits for it, but this tool is going to save people time and money when construction comes up here.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s all about serving the public, ainna?
