{"id":16224,"date":"2017-02-01T09:20:19","date_gmt":"2017-02-01T15:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=16224"},"modified":"2017-02-01T09:20:19","modified_gmt":"2017-02-01T15:20:19","slug":"i-feel-like-a-traitor-to-ella-but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/01\/i-feel-like-a-traitor-to-ella-but\/","title":{"rendered":"I Feel Like A Traitor To Ella, But&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I prefer Linda Ronstadt&#8217;s rendition of &#8220;Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Here is Ella Fitzgerald&#8217;s version, which I&#8217;ve enjoyed for decades:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z3Y7TpNi3x0?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Back when I was filling my evenings with eBay doings and then writing a book, an Ella Fitzgerald compilation featuring this track was in the 6 disc CD changer in my office, so I heard it nightly.<\/p>\n<p>But I recently (<a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/18\/good-album-hunting-christmas-shopping-december-16-17-2016\/\" target=\"_new\">December<\/a>) got the last record in the Linda Ronstadt\/Nelson Riddle trio, <em>For Sentimental Reasons<\/em>, which features this song as well:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-OV9zJdj408?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ella&#8217;s presentation is a little more seasoned, a little more knowing, which puts the emphasis on <em>again<\/em>.  Ronstadt&#8217;s is younger, a little more emphasis on the <em>bewildered<\/em>.  I dunno why, but I prefer it.<\/p>\n<p>Eydie Gorme did not do a version of this song that I can find.  Otherwise, as you can guess, <em>it<\/em> would probably be my favorite.<\/p>\n<p>I was excited to see a cover in the Ronstadt video for something called <em>&#8216;Round Midnight<\/em>, which I thought might be a different record, but it&#8217;s actually a compilation of the three Riddle\/Ronstadt collaborations.  Although I already own them on vinyl, I thought to buy them on Amazon, but it&#8217;s $40 (but free to stream&#8211;wouldn&#8217;t you rather spend $10 a month streaming subscription instead of $10 on a CD, son?  Amazon would prefer it for you!).  Eesh, I think I&#8217;ll look for it in person.
