{"id":15772,"date":"2016-10-19T14:33:49","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T19:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=15772"},"modified":"2016-10-19T14:33:49","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T19:33:49","slug":"book-report-monet-by-alberto-martini-1978","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2016\/10\/19\/book-report-monet-by-alberto-martini-1978\/","title":{"rendered":"Book Report: <i>Monet<\/i> by Alberto Martini (1978)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000WB2PL4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B000WB2PL4&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=stlbrianj-20\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/monet.jpg\" width=\"200\" alt=\"Book cover\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"4\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000WB2PL4\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;creativeASIN=B000WB2PL4&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=stlbrianj-20\" target=\"_blank\">This book<\/a> is an Avenal coffee table book of Monet&#8217;s work which shows his evolution from his early days to his creation of Impressionism and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve mentioned before, I like Impressionism because it not so much conveys the immediacy of a scene in a vital way (which they tell me it&#8217;s supposed to) but because it reminds me of a <em>memory<\/em> of a scene&#8211;that is, a little fuzzy around the edges.  <\/p>\n<p>Which is why I prefer Renoir or <a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/18\/book-report-the-art-of-manet-by-nathaniel-harris-1982\/\" target=\"_blank\">Manet<\/a> to Monet.  His work deals a lot with landscapes, and I prefer my memories with people in them.
