But now that all the <em>cool<\/em> kids are doing it (&#8220;If Trog jumped onto a river, would you?&#8221; &#8220;Yeah!&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>A little note, though: the item at the Federalist says &#8220;ten&#8221; books, but one list entry is actually <em>two<\/em> books.  The math, it is hard for English majors.<\/p>\n<p>Ergo, here is the list, with the ones I have read rendered in <b>bold<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><b>Atlas Shrugged<\/b><\/em>, Ayn Rand<\/li>\n<li><em>On the Origin of Species<\/em>, Charles Darwin<\/li>\n<li><em>Les Miserables<\/em>, Victor Hugo <\/li>\n<li><em><b>A Tale of Two Cities<\/b><\/em>, Charles Dickens<\/li>\n<li><em><b>1984<\/b><\/em>, George Orwell<\/li>\n<li><em>Democracy in America<\/em>, Alexis De Tocqueville<\/li>\n<li><em>The Wealth of Nations<\/em>, Adam Smith<\/li>\n<li><em><b>Moby Dick<\/b><\/em>, Herman Melville<\/li>\n<li><em><b>The Art of War<\/b><\/em>, Sun Tzu<\/li>\n<li><em><b>The Prince<\/b><\/em>, Niccolo Machiavelli<\/li>\n<li><em>Ulysses<\/em>, James Joyce <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I do own <em>Les Miserables<\/em> and <em>Democracy in America<\/em> with the intent to read them.  I also own <em>Ulysses<\/em>, but I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;ll ever reach a point where I pick that up before another book unless it&#8217;s a post-apocalyptic world where I&#8217;m burning books for warmth.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s six of eleven.  And <em>The Art of War<\/em> and <em>The Prince<\/em> are a hundred pages each.  They&#8217;re not books.
