{"id":1158,"date":"2004-07-15T19:57:00","date_gmt":"2004-07-15T19:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=1158"},"modified":"2018-08-13T12:12:55","modified_gmt":"2018-08-13T17:12:55","slug":"1158","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2004\/07\/15\/1158\/","title":{"rendered":"No Irony to See Here"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <i>St. Louis Post-Dispatch<\/i>, in a story about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stltoday.com\/stltoday\/news\/stories.nsf\/News\/Jefferson+County\/DF045DD8CC38235C86256ED2001B3F4A?OpenDocument&#038;Headline=Smoking+or+non%3F+\" target=\"_new\">government-mandated nonsmoking restaurants<\/a>, cites a number of restaurant figures who say that the whole industry will be non-smoking in the near future because <i>patrons<\/i> want it.<\/p>\n<p>The restauranteurs interviewed have restaurants with both smoking and non-smoking sections, so they&#8217;re not in a hurry to do what their patrons want, are they?<\/p>\n<p>Instead, they wait for government to strip them of their property rights, and then they do what they say the public wanted all along.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to guess, I would say that these quotables are mouthing the story line to get the name of their establishments listed in the paper.
