Be a shame if we were to continue sending pitches to it with pictures of children with cleft palates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/smiletrain.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/bsgfx\/smiletrain.jpg\" width=\"250\" alt=\"The Smiiiiiile Train!\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think the schtick is that if you send them a one-time &#8220;gift,&#8221; they&#8217;ll stop sending you the envelopes full of deformed children.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn&#8217;t stop those same disturbing photos from appearing in the back of every national magazine (at whose cost?).  Also, according to this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.charitywatch.org\/articles\/smiletrain.html\" target=\"_blank\">American Institute of Philanthropy report<\/a>, the donation doesn&#8217;t stop the solicitations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pitch for the &#8220;One Gift&#8221; program kinda sounds like &#8220;Nice mailbox you got there.
