{"id":1035,"date":"2004-06-12T01:42:00","date_gmt":"2004-06-12T01:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/?p=1035"},"modified":"2018-08-13T15:28:44","modified_gmt":"2018-08-13T20:28:44","slug":"1035","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brianjnoggle.com\/blog\/2004\/06\/12\/1035\/","title":{"rendered":"One of These Does Not Belong With the Other"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A story I saw on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drudgereport.com\" target=\"new\">Drudge<\/a>: <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&#038;cid=541&#038;u=\/ap\/20040611\/ap_on_he_me\/anthrax_exposure_1&#038;printer=1\" target=\"new\">Researchers Exposed to Anthrax<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At least five workers developing an anthrax vaccine at a <b>children&#8217;s hospital research lab<\/b> in Oakland were accidentally exposed to the deadly bacterium because of a shipping mistake, officials reported Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Officials with the Children&#8217;s Hospital Oakland Research Institute said none of the researchers has shown symptoms of infection since the first exposure about two weeks ago, but each is being treated with precautionary antibiotics.<\/p>\n<p><b>The researchers believed they were working with syringes full of a dead version of anthrax<\/b>, hospital spokeswoman Bev Mikalonis said. Instead, they were shipped live anthrax by a lab of the Southern Research Institute in the Frederick, Md., Mikalonis said. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Parents, does the children&#8217;s hospital where you take your children have a research lab where researchers work with deadly toxins better known as weapons of mass destruction?
