To be able to say "Noggle," you first must be able to say "Nah."
I bought this film in April at an estate sale. I’d watched the first one two years ago (already?) and thought it was a serviceable action film with just a hint of Albert Camus in it. This film goes in a slightly different direction. After an intro small mission that saw Stallone’s team rescue a […]
I bought this movie during a spree in February, and I wasted no time in watching it. It’s a bonus pack with the film on DVD and on Blu-Ray, which worked nicely for me, for although I have both, only the DVD is hooked into the sound system and the Blu-Ray only plays through our […]
Strangely enough, this film came out within months of The Expendables (the original) in 2010, and it spawned a sequel as well. So it’s easy to compare and contrast them: Both assemble superteams of Boomer action(ish) actors showing that they still have it. This film, though, features Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Helen […]
Well, gentle reader, you know what you’re getting with a modern Chinese film. You’ve got some star power in Jet Li (whose other films I’ve enjoyed, including Kiss of the Dragon, Hero, The Black Mask, Lethal Weapon 4, and most recently The Expendables). Okay, an older Jet Li, kind of like you get an older […]
I picked this film up not long after I watched The Art of War with Wesley Snipes a couple of weeks ago. Like that film, this DVD was a little deeper in the archives–meaning I did not buy it this year–but I figured that I would not be quite so primed to watch a Snipes […]
We expected to go to Bolivar, Missouri, Saturday morning for a cross country meet, but we got a reprieve when my son the student athlete did not get up and get to school to take the bus with his team. So I slept in and dragged him to a couple of estate sales and thrift […]
UFC legend Randy Couture airlifted to burn center after frightening NHRA practice crash I just saw him in two Expendables movies (The Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3). And I didn’t know who he was. Maybe the MfBJN curse, wherein authors and actors whom I have recently seen or read die, is mutating to only […]
For a second weekend in a row, my youngest and I visited several sales. Unlike last week, though, we made an excursion of it, visiting an estate sale in Marshfield, Missouri, some forty minutes down I-44 (run by Circle of Life Estate Sales, who does a number of sales in the area) and a outside […]
The church at the end of our farm road was having its annual(?) sale, and since I scored a couple records up there two years ago, I wanted to go. So I shanghaied my youngest, who became excited at the thought of maybe finding some collectible coins or trading cards cheap, and thought we would […]
Gentle reader, yesterday was half-price day at the Friends of the Library book sale, so I wandered back up north with my oldest son. Mainly, I wanted to hit the tables of cheap DVDs again, especially as they were going to be fifty cents each (!). So I did. And I bought a bunch. Look […]
